Not a whole lot been going on here at the little farm. We extended the chicken yard area to include where we once had pigs at. There is a spot that the pigs had dug out to make a huge mud hole and I figured the ducks would love to have a little "pool" area in the ground. Let me tell ya, They LOVED it! I will have to keep replenishing the water in it because it is still so hot during the day that most of the water will disappear.
I did go out late this evening and caught all the chickens that were loose on the yard. I clipped every one's wings so that they can not fly out of the chicken area. I need them to stay put up so that I can keep them out of the garden. Although they make great fertilizer, they also eat and destroy plants. So they have to stay put up.
I will be starting the Fodder experiment and also fencing in the area that is left for pasture within the next week. I am looking forward to it because we have been putting off the fencing for a while now for lots of different reasons. I am also getting a couple new animals over the next week. I have 4 goats that will be coming and the turkey pair that I have to have room for. I can't wait to get the turkeys! They are absolutely beautiful and I will share pictures of them as soon as I get them.
I guess I am headed to Wren Flea Market this weekend. Hopefully there will be some good deals that I can bring home. My step-dad is going with me. He enjoys going there with me and walking around. He says it is fun to watch me walk around and that my face just shines bright while I am doing so. That's probably because I get so excited about finding a beautiful hen or even a duck that I have been wanting! LOL
Until next time.....
